Webinar to be Held on Recent ONCA Pension Decision: Pension Administrators and Employers Invited to “Log-on”
By Dean
In our November 9th, 2012 blog, we reported on a recent pension decision from the Ontario Court of Appeal, Carrigan v. Carrigan Estate, in which the Court ruled in favour of a new interpretation to the death-benefit entitlement provisions of the Pension Benefits Act (“PBA”), one that could potentially disentitle many common law spouses from their survivor pensions.
On December 10, 2012 between 12 and 1:30 ET, Osgoode Professional Development will host a webinar on the case, moderated by Mark Newton, head of our National Pensions and Benefits Practice. Legal counsel on the Carrigan appeal will be featured on the call, and lawyers from the Ontario Pension Board and Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt will also participate as panelists. This webinar should be of interest to all employers who sponsor or participate in a pension plan of any type. Click here for more information.
